We’re very glad to share news of a new double-A sided 7” from Will Burns & Hannah Peel. Pale Tussock will be released on our Rivertones label on 18 October 2019.
The 7” features two new pieces from Will and Hannah, combining the same evocative, powerful sonic palette and plainspoken poetry as their acclaimed album Chalk Hill Blue, also released on Rivertones in March of this year.
A commission to create a new collaborative work for the BBC resulted in ‘Moth Book’, an elegiac mediation on loss which flowers into a driving, hypnotic synth workout, perfectly offset by the haunting flipside track, ‘Wendover, Bucks’. Listen to ‘Moth Book’ below:
The Pale Tussock 7″ single is exclusively available as a standalone item in the Caught by the River and Hannah Peel online shops. Preorder yours here. It is also available in a new deluxe vinyl edition of Chalk Hill Blue, which can be preordered here.
We are also extremely excited to announce that ex-Cabaret Voltaire member and pioneering field recordist Chris Watson will join Will and Hannah onstage at their upcoming Barbican show, where he will interweave his recordings of the Chalk Hill landscapes live on stage around the music from the album. Grasshoppers & crickets, skylark, stone curlew, corn bunting, lapwing, barn owl and muntjac deer, along with winds through the grasslands and a summer thunderstorm will be heard – bringing the essence of the chalk hills into Milton Court for one night.
