Erland Cooper launches new track ‘Spoot Ebb’ with a video by long time collaborator and visual artist Alex Kozobolis. Named after a particular spring tide that ebbs and flows far enough out to allow spoots (razor fish) to be caught with ease and collected on shore, ‘Spoot Ebb’ features syncopated piano pattern, vintage drum machine, Minimoog and tape loops by Cooper. The track features Cooper’s live ensemble (Anna Phoebe, Jacob Downs, Lottie Greenhow and Klara Schumann) and Leo Abrahams, whose guitar cycles around a complex patterned counter rhythm or groove.

The track is taken from Cooper’s upcoming album Sule Skerry, the second in a triptych shaped by his childhood home, the Orkney Islands. Sule Skerry is released on the Phases label on 16 May and be pre-ordered here.
