Taking place in the Port of Tilbury as part of this year’s Estuary Festival, Shorelines Literature Festival offers a series of talks, events, exhibitions and performances as 70 writers, artists and filmmakers explore the unexpected history, people and geography of the Thames Estuary and wider global waterways.

The lineup, put together by acclaimed author Rachel Lichtenstein, includes talks and readings by Deborah Levy, Horatio Clare, Rose George and Patrick Wright. Additionally, Rachel will launch her new book Estuary: Out from London to the Sea (current reading at CBTR HQ and highly recommended) at the festival. An immersive, intimate journey into the world of the Thames Estuary, the book is the result of years spent gathering an extraordinary chorus of voices: mudlarkers and fishermen, radio pirates and champion racers, divers and oystercatchers, along with the men who risk their lives out on the water and the women who wait on the shore.

The wider Estuary Festival runs 17 September – 2 October, with the Shorelines Literature Festival taking place on Saturday 17th September & Sunday 18th September. More information available here.
