5: Ship Path – West Norwood Cemetery Probably the most picturesque assemblage of funerary monuments, curving gently up the hill towards the Catacombs. There are some fantastic Gothic memorials, including a massive grave with a representation of an elegant sailing ship. It’s well worth pushing through the undergrowth as spectacular delights lurk in the woods, both botanical (especially during bluebell season) and architectural. It’s quite something to be traipsing through woods in full flower, and stumble into a Strawberry Hill style mock-Gothic chapel all wreathed in Queen Anne’s Lace.
