The launch of An Antidote to Indifference Issue 13 last Friday marked our first ever Bristol event. Stationed in artist Nick Hand‘s studio and surrounded by letterpress signage (the bar menu; a reminder for us to ‘turn off the bleeding light’ in the loo), we embarked on an evening filled with literature, ornithology, and insights into the fascinating world of field recording.

Featuring poetry from Will Burns, readings from Melissa Harrison and Richard King, a specially penned piece by Tim Dee, a presentation on the clever caracara by Jonathan Meiburg and an interview with Cheryl Tipp, guest editor of our latest fanzine, the night was played out by DJ Tom Friend. Like all the best things, it ended with free cake.

We hope everyone enjoyed Caught by the River Avon as much as we did. We’d like to thank Nick Hand and Richard King for their organisational skills, as well as all of our friends and contributors who took part. Additionally, thanks to everyone who bought a ticket and attended the event. We love branching out across the country, diversifying our readership and discovering the character of each place we pitch up. We hope to be caught by a river near you soon.
