I have just delivered the draft for my next book ‘Original Rockers’ which is based on my experiences of working in an independent record shop. As I dredged my memory, I was reminded of the customers who would bring valuable records to the counter and ask for ‘a shampoo and set’. I was rather confused by their request until it was explained to me that the shop’s owner had a professional vinyl cleaning machine at home.
At the Indie Label Market on Saturday 29th November I’ll be setting up the Original Rockers Vinyl Shine, a one stop record cleaning service that restores vinyl audio to its original clarity. We’ll be using a FuruTech demagnetiser, a ClearAudio Smart Matrix Professional cleaner and rehousing the vinyl that passes through our system in brand new poly-lined inner sleeves.
Nick Hand kindly let me visit his letterpress in Bristol where we made these cards, they will be included in every order.
Full details including our rate card are here. Friends of the River are of course all encouraged to haggle for a discount.
‘Original Rockers’ is due for publication by Faber & Faber in April 2015.
