Michael Smith – On Nature contributor and regular fixture at Caught by the River events – has a pretty ambitious new book published this month. Unreal City, the follow up to his brilliant debut The Giro Playboy, is described as ‘a nostalgic love song to the drifters, the artists, the glamorous misfits, the degenerate waifs and the barmaid-enchantresses of the capital’s backstreets and shadowy corners’. It also comes with a specially commissioned soundtrack created by Faber’s Artist In Residence and our favourite DJ ever, Andrew Weatherall. The standard edition of Unreal City is published by Faber on 29th August, the special edition with Andrew’s soundtrack on the 5th September. A very special launch party takes place at Rough Trade East on Sept 5th with Michael, Andrew and D.B.C Pierre. Click here for more information. Michael and Andrew will also be appearing on our stage at Festival No 6 on Saturday 14th September.
