Exhibition at Hereford Museum and Art Gallery
29 June to 1 September 2013 – River Life: Angling on the Wye
Press Release:
The River Wye, the county’s largest river, has shaped the landscape of Herefordshire since ancient times. People have been making their homes near it and fishing in it for thousands of years. The exhibition will explore the importance of rivers to people throughout history, how they influence our lives and form a focus for communities. In landlocked Herefordshire, rivers were once the main transportation routes into the county bringing a wealth of resources into Herefordshire and carrying goods and produce out into the wider world.
The exhibition will showcase the amazing giant fish in the museum collections from Svetlana Sturgeon to the record breaking Perdi Pike caught in the Wye.
Explore the natural history, industry and leisure activities that rely upon the wonderful watery world of the River Wye.
